(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
On 08-Jul-2022, a 10 year old, 8.6 kg, neutered, male, Terrier - Yorkshire crossbred dog, in unknown condition, with no known concomitant medical conditions, was administered 1 tube of Parapet K9 Praventa 360 for Medium Dogs 4.6-11kg (Imidacloprid, Permethrin, Pyriproxyfen) via the topical route by the animal owner. Approximately 12 hours post application, the dog developed lethargy, anorexia, and diarrhea. A bland diet was started. On 12-Jul-2022, the dog developed the inability to jump. On 13-Jul-2022, the dog was evaluated by a veterinarian. The dog was sent home and started on a treatment regimen of unspecified anti-nausea medication, probiotics, and a prescription diet. The dog was bathed twice by the animal owner using an unspecified natural shampoo. The clinical signs continued. Bathing the dog with dish soap to remove the product was recommended. No further information was received.

Assessment: This product has a wide margin of safety in dogs. Permethrin can cause paresthesia (tingling sensation on the skin) in some dogs. This sensation may be stressful in some animals, but signs tend to be mild and self-limiting. In dogs, this may manifest as agitation or lethargy, twitching, trembling, panting, and other behavior changes. If ingested while still wet at the application site, mild vomiting, diarrhea, drooling or decreased appetite may occur. The duration of signs in this case is longer than generally expected with paresthesia. Other causes should be considered including dietary indiscretion, foreign body obstruction, orthopedic injury, and underlying systemic disease. The information contained in this report is based on self-reported statements provided to the registrant during telephone interview(s). These self-reported descriptions of an incident have not been independently verified to be factually correct or complete descriptions of the incident. For that reason, information contained in this report does not and cannot form the basis for a determination of whether the reported clinical effects are causally related to exposure to the product identified in the telephone interviews.
