On 06 Jun 2022, the animal owner applied the product topically to the dog. On 12 Jun 2022, the dog did not want to stand and had difficulty getting up. On 22 Jun 2022, the dog developed anorexia. On 29 Jun 2022, the dog developed lethargy, difficulty walking, and weight loss; difficulty getting up persisted. Veterinary care was sought on 27 Jun 2022 at an emergency clinic, on another unspecified date to an emergency clinic, and on an unspecified date to the dog's primary veterinarian. On an unspecified date, unspecified blood work was performed that ruled out Lyme disease and was otherwise unremarkable. On an unspecified date, a bland diet was recommended, and the dog was administered an unknown ear medication for a suspected ear infection that treats for 30 days. On an unspecified date, clinical signs improved following bathing in a degreasing dish soap. On 05 Jul 2022, clinical signs were improving including the ability to walk and stand, but signs have not resolved. No further information is available.

Assessment: This product has a wide margin of safety in dogs. If ingested, mild self-limiting GI irritation leading to increased salivation and vomiting may occur. More significant signs such as persistent lethargy, anorexia, weight loss and difficulty with rising, walking, and standing are not expected. Underlying disease such as an ear infection, may result in alterations in balance. Further information about physical exam findings, temporal relationship, blood work results, other diagnostics, treatments, and response to treatment may provide further insight about the cause of this dogs clinical signs; however, these were not available. Other causes for the clinical signs such as infection and other underlying disease remain in strong consideration. The information contained in this report is based on self-reported statements provided to the registrant during telephone interview(s). These self-reported descriptions of an incident have not been independently verified to be factually correct or complete descriptions of the incident. For that reason, information contained in this report does not and cannot form the basis for a determination of whether the reported clinical effects are causally related to exposure to the product identified in the telephone interviews.
