On 30-Oct-2019 the reporter's daughter-in-law applied the product to her cat. Immediately post application, the cat started foaming at the mouth and walking in circles. The cat was bathed with an unspecified cat shampoo. The cat then developed additional symptoms. The cat was given an oral electrolyte solution intended for use in humans by the animal owner at home. The cat's clinical signs worsened and persisted until death the morning of 6-Nov-2019. Veterinary examination and care were not sought at any time. The animal owner declined to pursue a necropsy.

Assessment: This product has a wide margin of safety and the severe symptoms reported, including death, are not expected following labelled use. Even if ingested, only mild self-limiting oral or GI irritation leading to increased salivation, vomiting, anorexia, and diarrhea are anticipated. Other causes for the cat's symptoms should be considered including exposure to other insecticides, infection, metabolic disease, and trauma. Veterinary examination and diagnostics including necropsy may have been able to provide further information about the cause of the clinical signs and death, but these were not pursued. The information contained in this report is based on self-reported statements provided to the registrant during telephone Interview(s). These self-reported descriptions of an incident have not been independently verified to be factually correct or complete descriptions of the incident. For that reason, information contained in this report does not and cannot form the basis for a determination of whether the reported clinical effects are causally related to exposure to the product identified in the telephone interviews.
