On 21-Oct-2019 the pet owner sprayed her cat with an unknown amount of product but applied enough to make the cat's coat wet. The owner did not dry the cat off with a towel 10 minutes after application as per label directions. Immediately post-application the cat developed excessive salivation. It is unknown if the cat ingested any product. The owner then put the cat outside. The cat did not return home that evening. The morning of 22-Oct-2019 the owner found the cat deceased on the side of the road. No obvious signs of injury were noted by the owner. No further information was received in this case.

Assessment: This product is considered to have a wide margin of safety due to the low concentration of the active ingredient, tetrachlorvinphos. If ingested via grooming, only mild signs of oral irritation or gastrointestinal upset including drooling, vomiting, and decreased appetite would be expected. Death is not expected following dermal use or small ingestion of the product. Other causes, largely unknown trauma (hit by car, animal attack) should be considered in this case given where the cat was found. The information contained in this report is based on self-reported statements provided to the registrant during telephone Interview(s). These self-reported descriptions of an incident have not been independently verified to be factually correct or complete descriptions of the incident. For that reason, information contained in this report does not and cannot form the basis for a determination of whether the reported clinical effects are causally related to exposure to the product identified in the telephone interviews.
