(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
Caller stated that pet started to develop signs on June 20th and they think it is due to the rat poison that was put in their house. They are unsure how much the pet could have ingested, they don't know how much was originally there since they did not place it. The pet has been declining ever since and currently at DVM. Caller was advised that the product reported was not a rat poison but an inseciticde. Carbaryl is a carbamate insecticide that acts as an anticholinesterase inhibitor. These were used in the past topically on dogs and cats for parasite control. Exposure to this product could cause SLUDDE signs, bradycardia, ataxia, tremors, and weakness. Signs often occur fairly quickly, and may resolve on their own since carbamates do not age on the receptors like OP's will. I would not expect her signs to persist for this long. Even with re-exposure, signs may be intermittent, more with hypersalivation and possibly ataxia. Since her signs are persistent, especially with the weight loss, discussed other possible etiologies. Continue with supportive care and diagnostics.
