Immediately after application x appeared agitated and area of application seemed to irritate x and she scratched the area causing it to become red and with a few scabs. Owner called the vet clinic and was recommended to bath x which she did that evening with a regular grooming shampoo. Clinic checked back with owner at 9am on March 27, x was still agitated and hiding. They recommended another bath. Vet recommended to come in to be examined.

B-Possible: Reported application site scratching and agitation may reflect paresthesia caused by permethrin. Whereas skin reaction at application site, e.g. irritation and reddening may occur in sensitive animals, would not expect application site scab development directly related to product. However, dog may have scratched at application site which caused skin reacction by self-trauma. Hiding is an unspecific sign. However, it may be a consequence of the uncomfortable feeling caused by the applied product. Considering consistent time to onset, a product connection is deemed to be possible.
