Accidental ingestion/Ingestion accident.
(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
Pet ingested grass that was sprayed. The cat is lateral, vomiting, and lethargic. (on Jul 20, 2017 at 09:01 AM) The caller was advised that because the amount was somewhat consistent, the patient was considered to be at medium risk of developing clinical signs. If signs develop, there is low risk that those signs will be life-threatening. Benzoic acid herbicides include dicamba, chloramben, and benzolin. Generally, they have a wide safety margin. Oral LD50's in rats are 1040, 5620, and 4800 mg/kg respectively. With exposures involving ingestion of diluted product or small amounts, we normally only see mild, self limiting gastrointestinal upset. Chlorphenoxy herbicides (specific substances include 2,4-D, 2,4,5-T, MCPA, MCPP, 2,4,-DB, MCPB, Quizalofop-p-ethyl, fenoprop) act at multiple sites in a plant to disrupt hormone balance and protein synthesis, resulting in plant growth abnormalities. Oral ingestion generally causes only mild to moderate toxicity, and frequently is limited to mild self-limiting GI upset.
