On an unknown date post application, in 2015, the cat was examined by a veterinarian and diagnosed with lung cancer. On 07-Jul-2015, the cat died of unknown causes. No known necropsy was performed. Due to the sensitive nature of the communication, specific relevant event details were not obtained, nor will such be sought. The reporting party did not contact Bayer Animal Health to report the death of the animal but to inquire about product expiration dates.
No more information is expected. This case is closed.

Classification selon la gravité (s'il y a plus d'une catégorie possible, veuillez choisir la plus grave)

19. Donner des renseignements additionnels ici
Reported lung cancer and death are not expected as inconsistent with pharmaco-toxicological product profile. No signs of allergic/anaphylactic reaction reported in close proximity of product application. Product has wide margin of safety. Oral LD50 in rat 642 mg/kg BW. 24-fold overdosage tolerated by cats without showing any side effect. Death may be the likely consequence of lung cancer diagnosed in an animal. The product has no carcinogen potential. Further, the owner did not believe in product involvement either as reason for the initial call was to enquire about product expiration dates and not to report the death of the patient. Considering these aspects, in spite of the limited information (animal details, time to onset, necropsy results and medical history of the cat unknown), considering known safety profile of the product, product relation is unlikely.
