1-42517736 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that her two dogs may have been exposed to a rodenticide containing the active ingredient diphacinone. At the time of the call the reporter indicated that for the past two weeks her 2 year old, 50 pound, male mixed breed dog (Subform III #1) and her 4-month-old, 25 pound, male mixed breed dog (Subform III #2) had been entering the application site and although no exposure to the product was witnessed, the reporter indicated that the dogs could have been eating the product. Callers 50 pound dog had been coughing and bleeding from its mouth for an unspecified period of time and on the morning of initial contact this dog was found dead. Just prior to her initial call the reporter noted that her 25 pound dog was depressed and not eating or drinking. The reporter was advised to seek immediate medical attention for her 25 pound dog. If symptoms were from this product, the antidote, vitamin K1 could be given. On follow-up call, one day later, the reporter indicated that her 25 pound dog also died on the day of initial contact. The reporter did not seek veterinary care. No additional information is available.
