1-42226648 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that his five cats were exposed to a dog insecticidal spot-on product containing the active ingredients phenothrin and methoprene. One day prior to initial contact with the registrant the reporter applied the dog spot-on product to his five cats. One tube was divided between the five cats. Four cats did not develop any symptoms from the exposure but the callers 8-year-old, 7 pound, female domestic medium-haired cat was seen drooling the following morning and she was not eating. The reporter did see this cat lick some of the product off of her fur. The reporter was advised that per package labeling this product is not meant to be used on cats. Bathing with a hand dishwashing soap was recommended and medical attention was advised for any severe or persistent symptoms. On follow-up call, one day later, the reporter indicated that his cat also developed tremors and was taken to the veterinarian where it was being treated with fluids and some other unknown medications. At the time of the follow-up call the cat was still at the veterinary clinic but the reporter thought that it would be sent home later that day. No additional information is available.
