On an unspecified date post application, in approximately 2013, the dog developed a cough. The dog was examined by an emergency veterinarian, diagnosed with cardiac failure, and died. No necropsy was performed. The reason for the initial call was to discuss the use of our product for an active flea infestation on another animal, and not to report the death of the patient. No further information is expected. This case is closed.

Mort
19. Donner des renseignements additionnels ici
Coughing is unspecific and may have various other causes. However, it may be associated with later observed cardiovascular disorder. Cardiac failure and death are inconsistent with pharmaco-toxicological product profile and experience. Product has wide margin of safety. Oral LD50 in rat 642 mg/kg BW. 20-fold overdosage tolerated by dogs without showing any side effect. The cause of death was a cardiac failure. Further, the owner did not believe in product involvement either as reason for the initial call was to discuss the use of our product for an active flea infestation on another animal, and not to report the death of the patient. In case of suspected product involvement, adverse event would have been reported in close proximity and not long time after. Even though no necropsy was performed, considering all aspects, a product relation is deemed to be unlikely.
