(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
1-41541095 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that his cat and his mothers cat were exposed to a spot-on insecticide containing the active ingredient methoprene. The reporter applied the product to his mothers 8-year-old, 10 pound, male cat (Subform III #1) and to his 16 pound, female cat (Subform III #2) about one week prior to initial contact with the registrant to treat an active flea infestation. About four days prior to initial contact his mothers male cat was noted to be depressed and lying around and then passed away. Initially the reporter was vague about whether or not this cat had been seen by a veterinarian but the reporter called back later that same night and stated that this cat had been seen by a veterinarian and he was requesting medical bill reimbursement. The reporters 16 pound, female cat was found lying in a corner one day prior to initial contact with the registrant and then died later the same day. The reporter was advised that the active ingredients in the product have little to no toxicity in mammals and the described symptoms are not expected from normal use of the product. Flea bite anemia may present with the described symptoms and a necropsy could help determine an underlying cause for death but both cats had already been buried. No additional information is available.
