On July 15, 2014 immediately after the spot on was applied, both cats began hypersalivating, so the owner provided oral decontamination by wiping the cats' tongues. The owner then bathed both cats with vegan baby shampoo. The cats then became lethargic after the bath. The owner then provided dilution by giving the cats food. The cats had both fully recovered by the evening of July 15, 2014. On July 16, 2014 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian stated dermal and taste reactions can occur with both the spot on and shampoo. The APSS assistant recommended treating the environment according to the label, consulting with the attending veterinarian regarding another method of flea control, and calling back with questions.
