On September 8, 2014 the owner noticed the cat was symptomatic. The owner then wiped the cat's fur (with a soaking wet cloth with cold water) and provided thermoregulation (owner turned the heat on and towel dried her as it was cold in her area). Later that evening, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS). The APSS veterinarian also stated it is also possible to see temperature changes, but would not expect her to still be lethargic at this time to this degree. The APSS assistant recommended taking the cat to the veterinarian (tonight), having the veterinarian call for information, call a veterinarian (since there aren't any emergency veterinary clinics nearby, try calling your regular veterinarian to see if they provide an after hours phone number), provide thermoregulation (keep the cat warm), and call back with questions.
