1-37335071-The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that his 4 chickens were exposed to an insecticidal shampoo containing the active ingredients allethrin, n-octyl bicycloheptene dicarboximide and methoprene. The reporter bathed all 4 chickens with this shampoo three days prior to initial contact with the registrant. Within 12 hours of bathing one of the male chickens (Subform III #1) became wobbly, lethargic and vomited. The reporter indicated that the chicken aspirated when it vomited and was panting. The following morning this chicken was found dead. A second chicken was also wobbly, lethargic and panting within 12 hours of application. Two of the chickens did not develop any symptoms. The reporter was advised that per package labeling this product is only meant for dogs. Bathing with a non-insecticidal shampoo was recommended. On follow-up call, two days later, the reporter indicated that the chicken that had symptoms was still walking off balance and sitting funny but otherwise was doing well. Veterinary care had not been sought. The other 2 chickens never developed any symptoms. No further information is available.
