On August 8, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was agitated. On August 9, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was anorexic and adipsic. On August 10, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was hiding and had alopecia. On August 20, 2013 the owner contacted the company to obtain help. The companys veterinarian stated that some animals are more sensitive to these products and may develop hair loss at the application site or dermal irritation. The companys call center staff recommended that the owner call back with questions.

On August 23, 2013 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. Some of the details the owner gave differed from what was recorded during the initial consultation with the company. The owner stated that on July 25, 2013 the cat was inappetent and not wanting to cuddle as much as normal. On July 26, 2013 the owner noticed that the cat was hiding and shedding excessively, losing large clumps of hair at a time. Later that evening the owner bathed the cat with a cat/dog shampoo. The owner stated that the cat had fully recovered on July 27, 2013. The APSS veterinarian stated that the risk was for mild dermal sensitivity. This product is not registered for use in Canada.
