The DVM is calling to consult.Garbo was presented to the clinic symptomatic. The owner reports that she may have been exposed to a product called "Mouse tox wilson ready to use".She believes it may be a Canadian product because the son of the owner traveled to Canada and the dog was with him but she is not certain. She will ask the owner to obtain additional information. The DVM was advised that because the amount was unknown consistent, the patient was considered to be at medium risk of developing clinical signs. If signs develop, there is medium risk that those signs will be life-threatening. [Note : Ingestion of an anticoagulant rodenticide can result in significant prolongation of clotting times and life threatening hemorrhage. ] Recommended starting on K1. The PTT is not as elevated as the PT. Ht is 33 and T.P. is 6. Discussed the possibility of a hemoabdomen secondary to a splenic mass as a differential diagnosis. May 10, 2013 DVM calling to let us know that the pet actually had a splenic rupture and was euthanized.
