(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
1-35151135 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that his dog was exposed to an insecticidal spot-on product containing the active ingredient permethrin. The reporter indicated that he applied the product to his 1- year-old, 12 pound, female mixed breed dog (Subform III #1) and to his 4-year-old, 12 pound, male mixed breed dog (Subform III #2) one day prior to initial contact with the registrant. The product used was for dogs that weigh over 30 pounds but the reporter indicated that he divided the tube in 3rds and only applied one third of the tube to each of his dogs. One day after product application the reporter noted that both of his dogs were crying and sitting down like they were uncomfortable. The reporter was advised that he should only apply products to his dogs that match the designated weight range. Application of products that are meant for larger dogs may result in an overdose and bathing with a non-insecticidal soap was recommended. On follow-up call, two days later, the reporter indicated that after bathing the dogs seemed better for a few hours but then their symptoms returned. Veterinary care was recommended for the persistent symptoms. On follow-up call, four days later, the reporter indicated that he did go to the veterinarian and a medication that the reporter described as a combination of anti-histamine and an anti-inflammatory had been prescribed for a period of ten days. The reporter indicated that his dogs symptoms were improving. No further information is available.
