4/26/2013 Caller just found a chewed up bait station, and believes her dog may have chewed on the station and unknown amount of time ago. The dog was lethargic and would not drink for a couple of days prior to dying on 2/13/13. Dog was never evaluated by a veterinarian. No necropsy performed.

The information contained in this report is based on self-reported statements provided to the registrant during telephone Interview(s). These self-reported descriptions of an incident have not been independently verified to be factually correct or complete descriptions of the incident. For that reason, information contained in this report does not and can not form the basis for a determination of whether the reported clinical effects are causally related to exposure to the product identified in the telephone interviews. Observed symptoms are not consistent with the toxicity profile of this product. The potential dose of abamectin this 31 kg dog could have received from a single bait station is well below any dose of this compound that could potentially lead to illness in a dog this size and is unlikely to be the cause of this dogs symptoms. The dose of abamectin used within the ant bait station is significantly smaller than the dose of ivermectin, a similar compound to abamectin, used therapeutically by veterinarians to treat heartworm in dogs. Furthermore, this elderly animal was never properly evaluated and treated by a veterinarian nor was a necropsy performed to determine cause of death.
