There were a total of 28 colonies in the bee yard. There were 1 affected colonies. There were >2000 dead bees observed outside of hive. Adult bee symptoms included crawling. Additionally, no shaking/paralysis at this yard. Brood symptoms included spotty brood pattern. Additionally, there was spotty brood in 50% of hives. Queen symptoms included failure of colony to re-queen itself. Additionally, BK brought in 3 nucs, none survived, requeened with Chilean queens. Samples of honey taken from unaffected hive, pollen comb from unaffected hive 3 had no detected active ingredients. Samples of pollen taken from unaffected hive, pollen comb from unaffected hive 3 had no detected active ingredients. Samples of live bees taken from unaffected hive, live bees from unaffected hive 3 had no detected active ingredients. Sample of dead bees taken from affected hive, live bees from affected hive 1 had positive detects for Carbendazim. Samples of live bees taken from affected hive, live bees from affected hive 1 had no detected active ingredients. Samples of pollen taken from affected hive, pollen comb from affected hive 1 had no detected active ingredients. Samples of honey taken from affected hive, pollen comb from affected hive 1 had no detected active ingredients. The weather at the time of the incident was sunny, warm 25C+. Prior to the incident, the frames of bees started slow but doing ok. It was too soon to tell if the previously noted disease(s) or pest(s) got worse after the incident. Additional food sources provided to the bees included sugar syrup. It is unknown when the following treatments were applied to the hives: antibiotics. Information on crops located near the beeyards: Other crops in the area include a bee yard in a wooded area. There have been bees on this site (with various BK) for 50 years. Agriculture surrounds the wooded area. Yard details: Yard used for pollination of apples (local) and honey production. New nukes added July 12, Aug 9. Early spring nucs + 2 frames of brood. Some crawling bees in front of hives (mainly Hive 1). Yard had very slow start in the spring, now doing well. 2-4 hives had queen issues, BK brought in nucs. Chilean queens from other BK. Some hives are only 1-2 boxes high, others 5-6. No shaking bees observed. Spotty brood in ~50% hives inspected. Lots of forage (goldenrod and star thistle). Hive 1: affected hive. pollen is capped over - NOT normal. Sample taken. 2000+ dead bees in front of hive, sample taken. 1 mite/300bees. bees still in hive. HIve 2: inspected. Hive 3: unaffected hive, doing well. lots of honey. foraging well. live bees and pollen comb sample taken. 0 mites/300bees. Hive 4: inspected. Hive 5: inspected.
