In 2013, the following treatments were applied to the hives: oxalic acid. Information on crops located near the beeyards: 100 ac of soy beans was 150 m from the beeyard;150 ac of winter wheat was 10 m from the beeyard, and was planted in the fall; Crops located near forest; Gravel pit. Hives were mainly nucs. Dead bees were noticed at the front of the hive, 30-50 at the most.

There were a total of 50 colonies in the bee yard. There were 40 affected colonies. There was between 0 and 500 dead bees per colony observed outside the hive. Bees were actively foraging at the time of the incident.Hives growing, some foraging at the time of survey but cool day. No adult bee symptoms were present. Only dead bees found, no live bees showing symptoms. No brood symptoms. Additionally noticed during inspection a the time of site visit but break in brood cycle. No queen symptoms observed. Additionally dead queens found but these were not the quees introduced to the hive not likely related to bee kill. Samples of live bees taken from strong hive, (unaffected the live bees and least affected hive), had no detected active ingredients. Sample of pollen taken from affected hive, affected comb sample, had positive detects for Clothianidin and Thiamethoxam. Sample of honey taken from affectd hive, affected comb sample, had positive detects for Carbendazim and thiamethoxam. Sample of pollen taken from strong hive, comb sample least affected, had positive detects for clothianidin and thiamethoxam. Samples of water taken from pond north of hives, fed by tile drains had no detected active ingredients. Sample of dead bees taken from affected hive, affected dead bees had positive detects for clothianidin. Samples of dead bees taken from affected hive had no detected active ingredients.Samples of soil taken from soil colony, had late season follow up, active ingredients were not tested. Samples of honey taken from honey colony #3, late season follow up had no detected active ingredients. Samples of honey taken from honey colony #2, late season follow up had no detected active ingredients. Samples of honey taken from honey colony #1 , late season follow up had no detected active ingredients. The weather at the time of the incident was sunny, overcast and dry. Windy temp12C, cool day winds from the north west at 15km. Prior to the incident, there were an average of 4 frames of bees, 2 frames of brood, and 1 frame of honey and half a frame of pollen. The following pests were present in the affected bee yard in the past year: varro a mite, very few varroa mite not at threshold. After the incident, there were an average of 4 frames of bees, 2 frames of brood, and 1 frame of honey and half a frame of pollen. Additional food sources provided to the bees included sugar syrup (fall), pollen supplement (spring). I
