There were a total of 32 colonies in the bee yard. There were 25 affected colonies. There were between 1000 - 1500 dead bees per colony observed outside of hive. Bees were actively foraging at the time of the incident. There may be a small decline in foraging. There were no Adult bee symptoms. There were no brood symptoms. Brood looks very good. No queen symptoms included. Sample of dead bees taken from the most affected hive it had positive detects for Picoxystrobin. Sample of dead bees taken from affected hive had positive detects for Picoxystrobin. Sample of pollen comb taken from the most affected hive had no active ingredient detected.Sample of honey taken from pollen comb from hive that was least affected, (it was a strong hive within the affected yard) had no active ingredient detected.Sample of comb pollen taken from hive was least affected, it was a strong hive within the affected yard. Least affected had no active ingredient detected.Sample of live bees taken from affected hive had no active ingredient detected.Sample of water taken had no active ingredient detected. The weather at the time of the incident was sunny, 28C.Prior to the incident, the average number of bee frames was unknown since they did not open the hives, frames of brood appeared strong at last hive check. The following pests were present in the affected bee yard in the past year: sacbrood, chalkbrood, varroa mite. After the incident, there were an average of 10 frames of bees, 12 frames of brood, and 4 frames of pollen and 4 frames of honey. Additional food sources provided to the bees included sugar syrup.In 2012, the following treatments were applied to the hives: formic acid and antibiotics.In 2013, the following treatments were applied to the hives: amitraz and antibiotics.It is unknown when the following treatments were applied to the hives: formic acid Information on crops located near the beeyards: 100 ac of corn was 400m from the beeyard, 30 ac of hay was 500 m from the beeyard, 100 ac of wheat was 500 m from the beeyard, 50 ac of soybeans was 500 m from the beeyard, 50 ac of soybeans was 500 m from the beeyard,100 ac of soybeans was 500 m from the beeyard, 100 ac of corn] was 500 m from the beeyard. Beekeeper reported 1000's of dead bees in front of multiple hives. Three out of four rows in the yard are impacted. There are approximately 32-34 hives in the yard. Initial call (Aug 28): pile of dead bees in front of every hive (1000s). person in neighbourhood complaining about bees in their pool. beekeeper gave bees a water source.
