1-33540806 - The reporter, a pet owner, indicated that her dog was exposed to an herbicide containing the active ingredients 2,4-D, Mecoprop-p and Dicamba. The reporter states that one day prior to initial contact with the registrant her 8 month old, 11 pound, female Chinese Crested dog chewed on, but did not ingest, a hose that had been used to spray this product. That night the dog had the chills, diarrhea and was lethargic. The reporter was advised that the product has a wide margin of safety, if ingested it may cause transient gastrointestinal irritation; veterinary care was advised for any severe or persistent symptoms. On follow-up call fifteen days later the reporter indicated that her dog died on the night of initial contact. The reporter stated that she did take the dog to the veterinarian who indicated that the dog was bleeding internally and had bloody diarrhea and per the reporter the veterinarian indicated to her that the dog had been poisoned. The reporter was advised that internal bleeding is not expected with exposure to this product. The reporter was asked if her dog might have been exposed to a long acting anti-coagulant rodenticide but she indicated that the dog had not been exposed to a rodenticide. No further information is available.
