On December 14, 2012 the owner noticed that the cat was breathing heavily and was anorexic. Later that evening, the owner's boyfriend bathed the cat with an unknown type of cleansing agent. On December 15, 2012 the owner noticed that the cat was vocalizing and weak. A short time later, the owner took the cat to the veterinarian, where fluid therapy was given that day and also on December 16, 2012. The owner stated that the cat died at the clinic on the evening of December 16, 2012. On December 21, 2012 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner have her regular veterinarian call for information if necessary.
