On September 30, 2012 the owner noticed that the cat was vomiting; the cat vomited 5 to 6 times throughout the day, and at first it was white and foamy with clear mucus on a couple of occasions. The owner also noticed that the cat was lethargic. Later that morning the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that the risks were for mild dermal irritation and hyperesthesia from a dermal exposure and that vomiting and hypersalivation could be seen with an oral exposure. The APSS veterinarian also stated that death would not be expected. A necropsy was not available because the owner had already buried the cat.
