On Aug. 12,2012, an 18 year old, 7 pound, neutered, male, Domestic Shorthair/Siamese crossbred feline, in poor condition, with a history of severe weight loss; increased appetite; fleas; possible thyroid problems; possible anemia, and being FIV Positive, was administered a partial tube of Advantage II Large Cat once topically by the owner.

The cat was wobbly, twitching his head, and acting disoriented. The owner administered the cat water with an eyedropper. The morning of Aug. 23,2012, the cat was slightly improved. On 24-Aug-2012 the owner administered one tablet of Tradewinds feline tapeworm tabs. Cat presented to the veterinarian and was given clindamycin for seven days for treatment of undiagnosed toxoplasmosis. Owner declined bloodwork. As of 10-Sep-2012 the cat continues to be ataxic and has developed head bobbing. On 14-Sep-2012 the cat was examined by the veterinarian. The cat had a low white count and was anemic. On 15-Sep-2012 owner applied another tube of Advantage II and the cats symptoms got worse. The owner bathed the cat and the worsening signs resolved. The cat continues to have ataxia and head bobbing. Giving Clavamox daily since 14-Sep-2012. Cat is having tremors at night while sleeping. Cat continues to have fleas. On 08-Oct-2012 the owner gave another tablet of Tradewinds feline tapeworm tabs. Owner is also giving the cat an undetermined amount of human vitamins daily, glucosamine, and a human potassium tablet 50mg, and another unknown human nerve medication. On 25-Oct-2012 the owner applied another tube of Advantage II Large Cat. The ataxia and head bobbing seemed to get worse and approximately one hour later the owner bathed the cat with dawn dish washing liquid. On 14-Nov- 2012 the head bobbing resolved, however the cat became inappetant and painful along his spine. A mass along the cat's spine was noted at this time. On 16-Nov-2012 the cat was found deceased. No necropsy was performed.
