(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
On January 16, 2012 the owner noticed that shortly after spraying the dog with the product he became anorexic for about 24 hours. On January 26, 2012, the owner suspected that the dog licked the spray product off of another dog shortly after it was sprayed on both of them. Later that evening, the owner noticed that the dog was coughing and wheezing as though something were stuck in his throat and he became mildly anorexic, eating slower than normal. On January 29, 2012 the owner observed that the dog had hind limb weakness and fell on the floor. Soon after this occurred, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that with a dermal exposure the concern was for dermal irritation and that with an oral exposure the concern was for a taste reaction and mild gastrointestinal (GI) upset. During the consultation the owner mentioned that the dog had also developed pallor on an unknown date and at an unknown time, with pale pink to white gums. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner take the dog to the veterinarian and have the veterinarian call for information.
Mort
The APSS veterinarian stated that the substance was considered to have a doubtful likelihood of causing the clinical situation and that congestive heart failure was considered as another possible cause of the clinical signs. On February 2, 2012 an APSS technician called the owner to update the case. The owner stated that she could not afford to take the dog to the veterinarian and that the dog died on January 30, 2012. The body was not available for a necropsy.
