1-29928466-The reporter, a pet owner, indicates her animals were exposed to an insecticide containing the active ingredient methoprene. The reporter indicted she had applied the product to her eight year male twenty eight pound domestic shorthair cat (Subform III, #1) and her female six year ten pound domestic shorthair cat (Subform III, #2) two days prior to her initial contact. The pet owner indicated she had noted in the older animal hair loss and redness at the application site. She also commented he was disoriented and hiding and she had noted the animal was reluctant to raise its head because he doesn't like the product on his neck. She also reported she had noted hair loss on the younger animal at the application site. The pet owner was advised the signs seen would be unexpected following use of the product per the label. She was advised of proper decontamination and the threshold at which to see a veterinarian. The pet owner was reached three days later for follow up. She reported the animals signs persisted three days and then they spontaneously resolved. No further information is available.
