On October 29, 2011 the owner noticed the kitten was symptomatic. Later that evening, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that the use of the product on kittens this age may cause hypothermia, which can lead to secondary hypotension, hypoglycemia, and death. The APSS veterinarian also stated that the underlying flea infestation could also cause death due to anemia. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner take the kitten to the veterinarian and have the veterinarian call for information.

On November 3, 2011 an APSS assistant called the owner to update the case. The owner stated that he monitored the kitten at home and did not take her to the veterinarian as recommended. The owner also stated that the kitten died on November 3, 2011 and that he had already buried her. Label states not to use this product on cats under 12 weeks of age.

The APSS veterinarian stated that the use of the product on kittens this age may cause hypothermia, which can lead to secondary hypotension, hypoglycemia, and death. The APSS veterinarian also stated that the underlying flea infestation could also cause death due to anemia. A necropsy was refused by the owner because the kitten had already been buried.
