On September, 3, 2011, shortly after applying the product to her dog, the owner rinsed the dog's coat and skin because she thought it was too much liquid for the dog. On September 4, 2011 the owner noticed the dog was symptomatic. On September 5, 2011 the owner noticed took the dog to the veterinarian. Later that evening, the owner bathed the dog. On September 6, 2011 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that some dogs may be more sensitive to permethrins and have a hyperesthesia reaction at the application site. The APSS veterinarian also stated that dermal irritation could occur as a hypersensitivity reaction to the product or carriers. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner take the owner take the dog to the veterinarian for evaluation and potential medications for the skin irritation, have the veterinarian perform a diagnostic evaluation on the dog to find other potential causes.
