Between July 9 and July 11, 2011 the owner noticed the dog had symptoms. Between July 10 and July 12, 2011 the owner bathed the dog and applied hydrocortisone cream. Between July 11 and July 13, 2011 the owner noticed the dog had a moderate number of sores. Between July 23 and July 25, 2011 the owner noticed the dog's symptoms had become mild. On July 25, 2011 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that dermal reactions are possible with the use of the product, but that it would be unusual to see a reaction in all three unrelated animals. The APSS veterinarian also stated that the owner should consider that the issue might be a flea infestation with secondary infection in this case. The APSS assistant recommended that the owner decontaminate the environment and call back with questions.
