1-28502555- The reporter, a pet owner, indicates her animal was exposed to an insecticidal product containing the active ingredients pyrethrins, piperonyl butoxide, and N-octyl bicycloheptene dicarboximide. The reporter indicates she had applied the product to her twelve pound twenty year old male domestic long hair cat three days prior to her initial contact with the registrant. The pet was reported at some indeterminate time following application to have developed the signs of refusal to eat or drink and falling over when walking. The pet owner was advised to seek immediate veterinary assistance. The pet owner indicated unwillingness to see a veterinarian due to lack of financial resources. On follow up the pet owner indicated the animal had died two days after her initial contact. The pet owner had not taken the animal to the veterinarian. The pet owner noted dilated pupils, vocalization, and hind limbs "jerking" prior to the animals death. The pet owner was advised the product is not labeled for us on elderly animals but despite this fact the signs seen and outcome seen would not be expected following use. The animal had been buried and no necropsy performed. No further information is available.
