On the morning of August 25, 2011 the owner noticed the cat was symptomatic. When she noticed these signs, the owner immediately wiped off the cat's coat and skin. Later that morning, the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that with this exposure, only dermal signs would be expected, but that because the cat was thoroughly saturated witht he product and was licking it off. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner bathe the cat with liquid dish washing detergent (LDWD), call back with questions, take the cat to the veterinarian if signs did not continue to improve or resolve by the afternoon, and have the veterinarian call for information.
