On the morning of September 4, 2011 the owner noticed that the cat was symptomatic. The owner bathed the cat with human shampoo and confined the cat in a dog kennel. Later that day, the owner noticed the cat had become lethargic and that the cat was no longer experiencing the other symptoms. On September 6, 2011 the owner found the cat was dead. On September 26, 2011 the owner contacted the Animal Product Safety Service (APSS) to obtain help. The APSS veterinarian stated that the product has a good margin of safety in cats and that significant signs and death would not be expected.
