10/6/2010 Caller is a veterinarian calling from a clinic. A dog owner sprayed the product around the home 1.5 weeks ago. Two days ago, the dog developed vomiting and bloody diarrhea. The dog was not actually brought into the clinic, but another a veterinarian at the clinic had talk to the owner who had come in and sent the owner home with antibiotics. The dog died at home yesterday. Three other dogs in the home also developed bloody diarrhea and vomiting two days ago. None of the dogs had any witnessed exposure to the product. 10/15/2010 The original caller is calling back. Veterinarian suspects the dogs were suffering from a clostridial bacterial overgrowth based on a rapid response of the one treated dog to antibiotics. The pesticide involvement has been ruled out. Only one of the three surviving symptomatic dogs was brought to the clinic for treatment. The dog responded well to oral antibiotics, and was sent home the next day. The owner declined to bring the other two dogs in for treatment, and instead gave them Pepto Bismol at home. All three dogs have recovered and are now asymptomatic.
