(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
Dog was outside in yard when owner was spraying product. Dog was observed to lick some of the foam. Exposure was about 30 minutes prior to consultation, and dog is asymptomatic at this time. Because the amount was somewhat consistent, the patient was considered to be at medium risk of developing clinical signs. If signs develop, there is low risk that those signs will be life-threatening. The owner was advised that this product contains the pyrethroid d-trans allethrin and permethrin. As well there are some propellants and carriers- ethanol and butane. Depending on amount ingested, could see intoxication from the ethanol, risk of aspiration due to the hydrocarbons. Typically, ingestion of the pesticides causes taste reaction, and possibly vomiting. The pesticides can cause a tingling sensation in the mouth, causing hypersalivation. Signs are expected to be mild. Outcome fully recovered!
