(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
1-22557146: The reporter, an animal owner, calls 05/08/10 to report exposure of her dog to a pesticide containing the active ingredient Metaldehyde. The caller initially reports her 7 month 15 pound Bichon Frise (sub form III #1) had ingested an unknown amount of the product 20 minutes before the call. The animal was demonstrating tremors or fasciculations at the time of the call. The owner was advised to seek prompt veterinary care as the primary thrust of treatment is aggressive decontamination following ingestion. The caller was advised of symptoms typically seen following ingestion, supportive measures, and to have the veterinarian monitor liver values following ingestion. On routine call back the animal owner indicated she sought veterinary care for the animal (sub form III #1) but that it died. She did not specify treatments or if the animal was hospitalized. The caller further indicated at this point that two additional dogs were exposed that she had not mentioned at her initial call. A 6 month dog of unspecified breed (sub form III #2) had an unspecified exposure. The animal had developed neurologic symptoms that the owner did not clarify and had fallen into their pool and died. This occurred at home while the owner was at the veterinarian¿s office. The third animal (sub form III #3) a 25 pound cocker spaniel also had an unspecified exposure, developed hind limb fasciculations that resolved spontaneously after an unknown duration, and required no care.
