1-18622994: A reporter (cat owner) called on 05/28/2009 to report the exposure of her 4 cats to a topical flea egg and larvae product containing the active ingredient Methoprene. According to the reporter, the product was applied to the 4 cats on 05/26/2009. Within 2 hours following product application, all cats developed signs. Cat #1 (1st Subform III) began foaming at the mouth, had difficulty walking, and was shaking. Cat #2 (2nd Subform III) had difficulty walking and was acting abnormally. Cat #3 (3rd Subform III) and Cat #4 (4th Subform III) had abnormal behavior and were hyperactive. The reporter called the veterinarian after the signs were noted and was directed to bathe the cats. Cat #1 was not seen by a veterinarian and died on 05/27/2009. It is unknown whether the other cats were evaluated by a veterinarian. Their signs resolved by 05/28/2009. Necropsy was discussed as an option to try and determine the cause of Cat #1's death. No further information was obtained.
