1-18460658: A reporter (veterinarian) called on 05/14/2009 to report the exposure of a dog to a flea and tick product containing the active ingredients Methoprene and Permethrin. According to the reporter, the product was applied to the dog for the first time on 05/13/2009. The dog became lethargic, started chewing on himself, and developed skin twitching and intermittent tremors an unknown time following product application. The dog's owner bathed him with a mild dog shampoo. The dog vomited on 05/14/2009. The reporter stated that the dog's temperature and pulse were within normal limits. The dog will be going home with the owner for observation. The reporter was advised that the product is not expected to result in significant health issues with routine use, however, individual animals may have sensitivities. Signs of possible reactions were discussed. The reporter was advised that tremors may be treated with Methocarbamol or diphenhydramine. A recommendation was made to have the owner monitor the dog for development of any other signs. Several attempts at follow up were unsuccessful. No further information was obtained.
