On May 25th the owner bathed the dog with flea shampoo. The APSS veterinarian stated that dogs tolerate pyrethroids well. No life threatening signs are expected. The APSS veterinarian recommended that the owner take the pet to the veterinarian and have the veterinarian call for information. On May 28th, after feeding the dog a meal of boiled chicken and rice, the owner noted that the pet was urinating, but would not eat his regular food and vomited. On May 28th, the owner called the APSS a second time. The APSAS veterinarian recommended that the owner give the pet a bath with mild liquid dishwashing detergent, apply vitamin E to the application site, monitor body temperature, and monitor at home. Later on May 28th, the pet developed bloody diarrhea. On May 29th, the owner took the pet to a veterinarian where a parvovirus test was done, antibiotics were given, and an antiemetic was administered. The APSS veterinarian offered grief counselling, which the owner declined.

Tis product was not used according to label directions. The product was applied only in one spot. The parvo test was negative. Clinical signs were in excess of what to expect when using the product. These clinical signs would not be expected with this product.
