1-18926181: A reporter (veterinarian) called on 06/23/2009 to report the possible exposure of 3 dogs to an herbicide containing the active ingredient S-metolachlor. According to the reporter, a kennel water supply may have been contaminated with the product at an unknown time. One dog (Dog #1-1st Subform III) died and 2 dogs (Dog #2, Dog #3-2nd Subform III) were euthanized. The time frame of the incident and the dogs' signs are unknown. The dogs had been taken to a laboratory at the time of the report. The reporter was advised that the product has a low level of toxicity and a wide margin of safety. Ingestion of small amounts of product may result in minor gastrointestinal upset including nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Serious signs and death would not be expected from exposure to the diluted product. The reporter was encouraged to call back with any further details. No further information was obtained.
