1-16661182: A reporter called on 09/22/2008 to report his exposure to an herbicide containing the active ingredients Mecoprop, 2,4-D, and Dicamba. According to the reporter, he was spraying the product on 09/17/2008 when the mist from the product drifted back into his nose and mouth. He showered well after the exposure but developed a sore throat shortly thereafter that had persisted until the time of the report. The reporter had a doctors appointment scheduled for later in the week. The reporter was advised that the symptoms should have resolved by the time of the report with the decontamination procedures previously performed. The reporter was encouraged to see his doctor for advice on his persistent symptoms. On follow up, the reporter stated that he had seen his physician on 09/26/2008 and was advised to breathe humidified air to soothe the throat irritation. The reporter stated that that had helped. The reporter then said that had also gotten some of the product in his eye on 09/17/2008. He had rinsed his eye after making the report on 09/22/2008 and had been using artificial tears and eye drops intended for ocular itching and allergy. The reporter was also concerned that he may have swallowed some of the product drift on 09/17/2008. The reporter was advised against using any eye drops that constrict blood flow to the eye. A recommendation was made to see his doctor as any ocular signs should have resolved by this point. The reporter was advised that the product has a low level of toxicity and a wide margin of safety. The reporter was also advised that the ingestion of a taste amount of the product would not be expected to result in toxicity but could cause some mouth or throat irritation. No further information was obtained.
