(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
1-16608444: The reporter called on 09/06/2008 to report the exposure of ten 4-week old puppies to a pyrethroid insecticide product containing the active ingredient Cypermethrin. According to the reporter, the puppies ingested an unknown amount of the undiluted product on 09/05/2008. Four of the puppies began "acting drunk", developed tremors, and their hind limbs would "not work." It is unclear when the signs developed in relation to product exposure. Two of these puppies died (1st subform III), the other two puppies remained symptomatic (2nd subform III) and the remaining six puppies were asymptomatic at the time of the report. The reporter was advised that small ingestions of the product typically only result in transient gastrointestinal upset. Massive ingestions of the product can result in more significant signs including vomiting and neurologic signs. A recommendation was made to have the symptomatic puppies evaluated by a veterinarian immediately and to have the attending veterinarian call with any questions. Another reporter (the owner's friend) called on 09/06/2008 to report the same exposure and stated that one puppy's "equilibrium was off" and that another puppy had died. This reporter was encouraged to take the symptomatic puppy to the veterinarian immediately. On repeated attempts at follow up, the initial reporter (owner) could not be reached. The person answering the phone stated that all surviving puppies (unknown number) had been taken to the pound. No further information was obtained.
Mort
Product ingestion by the puppies was witnessed, but the reporter is not specific about whether all 10 puppies were seen ingesting the product.
