I recently purchased a container of Insectigone cockroach and ant killer: Reg NO. 21340 P.C.P. Act. Prior to using the product on Monday, December 17th, I was checking out how to open the container. Although the label said to remove the cap and cut the tip I noticed that on the nozzle shape of the cap it said "push", where I did. There had been some spillage around the nozzle inside the cap and as I closed the cap there was a small cloud of dust. I must have inhaled some of this dust because I felt a light burning session on my tongue and in my throat. I followed the instructions on the label and drank water. Two days later I had developed a cough, which I assume is the lungs' way of trying to cope with this invasion and I consulted my family doctor, taking the container with me. He said if the cough persisted into January to come back. By the following day, Thursday, the cough was deep seated and somewhat painful. I am hoping that there will be no serious permanent damage to my lungs, which are quite sensitive - I have mild asthma whis is controlled by Flovent. I also have allergies to various pollens. Although the label does indeed state "Keep out of reach of children" and "Read the label before using" these cautions are not very prominent on the label and there is no mention anywhere that a dust mask should be used as suggested in the document PACR2004-09, 28th April 2004, section 4. I think it would be very helpful if there were some symbol on the main label to indicate that there is a danger to health if used without wearing a dust mask. What upsets me is that I was exposed to the dust before I started using the product and had purchased it because it is inert and supposedly safer than chemical products. I also think there should be some symbol indicating that there is a serious danger to health if used improperly.
