(p.ex. description des symptômes tels que la fréquence et la gravité
History: Caller's wife applied the product to their kitten "Ziggy" a 10 mo 6-7# DMH. Caller has noticed in the last few hours the kitten is "acting weird." She is having difficulty walking, facial and eyes twitching, body tremors and feels warm to the touch. Caller wiped off the area where the liquid was applied with water. NOTE: While on the phone with the caller, the kitten was just starting to have a seizure. Assessment: Discussed with the caller the AI is permethrin 45% which is a synthetic pyrethroid which some animals may be sensitive to. Some symptoms seen may be dermal irritation such as redness, rash, itching or parathesia type symptoms. Cats/kittens have a tendency to be very sensitive to this ingredient at this percent and may see CNS symptoms such as: Ataxia, tremors, hyperthermia or seizures. Recommend to take the kitten to your Vet ASAP for treatment Rec. to caller to have the cat treated for pyrethroid toxicity by your Vet ASAP. There is not antidote for the product, but usually recommend to use muscle relaxers, antihistamines, fluids and supportive care. Encourage the DVM to monitor the cat for a minimum of 48-72 hours. Even though the initial therapy may have been effective, clinical signs can develop for up to 72 hours - and may re-emerge after therapy is discontinued.
