On 20 Jul 2023, a veterinary technician contacted Elanco to report an adverse reaction in a dog that had been treated with K9 advantix II Medium Dog (Permethrin, Imidacloprid, Pyriproxyfen) and Advantage Multi 20 (Imidacloprid, Moxidectin). This dog had previously been treated with both products during the summer of 2022 with no issues. On approximately 1 Jun 2023, the patient was treated topically with Advantage Multi 20. On approximately 10 Jun 2023, the patient was treated topically with K9 advantix II Medium Dog. On approximately 1 Jul 2023, the patient was dosed again with Advantage Multi 20. On 10 Jul 2023, the patient was dosed with K9 advantix II Medium Dog.

On 10 Jul 2023, 3 to 4 hours after application, the 12.58 year old, 7.5 kg, neutered female, Shih Tzu X Chihuahua dog, vomited 10 times, had diarrhea with mucous, and application site pruritus. On 12 Jul 2023, the patient vomited once, continued to have diarrhea and had a decreased appetite. On 13 Jul 2023, the vomiting resolved. On15 Jul 2023, the diarrhea resolved. The other signs were ongoing.
