On 13 Jul 2023, the veterinary technician contacted Elanco to inquire about re-application of Advantage II Medium Dog (Imidacloprid, Pyriproxyfen) and reported the following: On the evening of 12 Jul 2023, the patient was treated topically with a tube of Advantage II. On 19 Jul 2023, the pet owner re-applied Advantage II topically onto the skin of the patient (misuse type: high frequency of administration).

During the night of 12Jul2023, the 1 year old, 8 kg, intact female, Cavalier King Charles dog, in fair condition with preexisting soft stools associated with a recent change in diet and lice, developed diarrhea. No veterinary exam or treatment had been done. On 21 Jul 2023, the pet owner reported seeing live lice on the dog.
