On 04-Jul-2023, a pet owner contacted Elanco regarding a perceived lack of efficacy and possible adverse reaction to K9 advantix II Medium Dog (Permethrin, Imidacloprid, Pyriproxyfen). On 28-Jun-2023 the pet owner applied the product to the dog.

On 28 Jun 2023, the 13 year old, 6.8 kg, intact, female, Shih Tzu canine, who had fleas and generalized pruritus, was still pruritic. The owner stated the product did not work. No fleas were seen on the dog. On 30-Jun-2023 the dog was seen by the veterinarian. The dog was diagnosed with a pyometra and was euthanised.
