On 27 Jun 2023, Elanco was contacted by an animal owner regarding Seresto. On approximately 01-Jun-2018, the dog had 1 Seresto Small Dog (Flumethrin-Imidacloprid) collar placed around the neck by the animal owner for flea control. The product was used correctly, and no concomitant products were used. The product was used years previously without issue.

On approximately 02 Jun 2018, the 6 year old, 2.3 kg, male, Chihuahua/Terrier - Yorkshire crossbred dog, of unknown reproductive status, in unknown condition, with the concomitant medical condition of a flea allergy, had live fleas. On approximately 08 Jun 2018, the dog experienced a seizure. The dog was evaluated by the veterinarian, and the Seresto Small Dog (Flumethrin-Imidacloprid) collar was removed. The dog was administered an unspecified sedative via the oral route by the animal owner. On approximately 08 Jul 2018, the seizures stopped without further medical intervention, but the fleas continued. On approximately 01 Jun 2022, the dog died. No necropsy was performed.
