On 17 Jun 2023, Elanco was contacted by an animal owner regarding an adverse event with using Advantage II Large Cat on their cat and reported the following: On 16-Jun-2023, a cat was administered 1 tube of Advantage II Large Cat (Imidacloprid-Pyriproxyfen) via the topical route by the animal owner for flea control.

On 17-Jun-2023, the 2-year-old, approximately 5.5kg, neutered, male, Domestic Longhair cat, was not willing to walk (hesitancy to move), had third eyelids raised, and his mouth was open (dyspnea). On 19 Jun 2023, the cat died.
